moose in sunAugust 18, 2015.   The Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire announces another successful year for the Moose Permit Auction. The 2015 Auction raised $28,002, with the money earmarked for grants supporting programs of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

With only 2 permits to auction this year due to the impact of ticks on the moose population, the Foundation still received 6 bids from 3 states – New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Texas. Both of the top bids were $14,001. “Hunters appreciate the quality of the unique hunting experience here in New Hampshire”, said Steve White, Chairman of the Foundation.

The annual auction is the primary fundraiser for the Foundation, whose mission as the official non-profit partner of the NH Fish and Game Department is to support the wildlife, conservation, education and outdoor programs of the Department. These programs are critical to preserving New Hampshire’s outdoor heritage so people can continue to enjoy traditions such as hiking, boating, hunting, fishing and watching wildlife for generations to come. See the Grant Projects page on this website for a list of grants awarded to NH Fish and Game to date.

Funding for the Foundation’s grant program comes from the Moose Permit Auction and from individual and corporate donors.
