Three enterprising students from Nashua have been awarded the 2015 Youth Conservationist Award of Excellence from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Commission.

Douglas Barker, Jack Gould and Patrick McCarthy were nominated for the award by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of NH. These enterprising young men held a fishing derby to benefit the NH Fish and Game Department as their project for the 8th grade community service program Make A Difference at  Nashua’s Pennichuck Middle School.  Avid fishermen, they fished the Nashua River, catching rock bass, large-mouth bass, black crappies and bluegill sunfish.  They presented the money raised from derby pledges to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of NH, the official non-profit partner of the NH Fish and Game Department.  “These young men are an excellent example of what the Foundation is all about: helping support the wildlife, conservation, education and outdoor programs of NH Fish and Game so that our children can learn about and have fun participating in the outdoor activities and adventures in New Hampshire”, said Steve White, Board Chair of the Foundation.

Congratulations to these three special young men, and keep on fishing!
