December  18, 2015.  The Foundation recently received a donation from a resident who benefited from the services of the Search & Rescue Team.  An experienced hiker, he severely injured his leg in a climb last spring  and was transported down the mountain by members of the team.   His anonymous donation is earmarked for the purchase of additional safety rope for each member of the Search & Rescue Team, along with new cold weather stoves to heat up fluids for those being rescued.  In a note of thanks to the team, the donor states “Thanks to you I am on the mend. You guys are real pros at what you do.”

The Foundation was also the recipient of a donation from a private philanthropic fund to provide new safety holsters, revolver lights and new year-round jackets for all Conservation Officers.  The new holsters will have an automatic locking system, and the lights will be attached to the current issue duty pistols for better vision. The jacket company used previously by Law Enforcement ceased operations, so replacement coats and new recruit coats could not be obtained.  The new jacket will be a year round system with a light-weight warm weather shell, a cold weather jacket and  a removable  insulated liner.

The donor of the holsters, lights and jackets also wishes to remain anonymous, but is a strong supporter of Fish and Game’s Law Enforcement Division, and they believe that Conservation Officers need to be equipped with up-to-date equipment.  The new jackets will also give a consistent look for Fish and Game law enforcement officers throughout the year, and provide better public recognition.
